How much does a Boston wedding photographer cost?
My documentary wedding collections in Boston range from $2,500 to $6,000, depending on how many hours of coverage you need and whether you add video. What is documentary wedding photography, and how is it different from traditional posed photography?
Documentary wedding photography means I capture your day as it actually unfolds, rather than staging and directing every shot. Traditional posed work stops the day for setups, while I stay in the background reading the room, so the laughter on the dance floor at your Boston reception is real, not arranged.
Do you still take family and group portraits if you shoot documentary-style?
Yes, I always make time for family and group portraits, even though most of the day is candid. With an organized shot list, 15 to 20 minutes is usually enough to get the formal combinations done well, then we get you back to actually enjoying your wedding.
How far in advance should we book our Boston wedding photographer?
Most couples book their Boston wedding photographer 12 to 18 months out, usually right after locking in the venue and date. Peak September and October dates and Saturdays tend to go first, and since I only take a limited number of weddings each year, earlier is always safer.
How soon will we get our wedding photos?
You'll get your full edited gallery in about two weeks, which is much faster than the Boston norm of six to ten weeks. I deliver everything through a private online gallery you can view, download, and share, so you're not waiting most of a season to relive your day.
Do you offer both photography and video?
Yes, I shoot both photography and video as a coordinated hybrid service. One small, in-sync team covers your Boston wedding for a unified look, instead of two vendors working around each other, and adding video keeps you within the same $2,500-$6,000 range.
Do you include a second photographer (second shooter)?
A second photographer is available as an add-on rather than standard on every collection. A second shooter captures angles I can't be in two places for, like the groom's prep while I'm with you, and I recommend one for larger or multi-location Boston days of around 150 guests or more.
Do you travel outside Boston for weddings in New England?
Yes, I regularly photograph weddings across New England, from Cape Cod to the North Shore to Newport. I also work in Sarasota, Florida, for destination couples, so I'm comfortable traveling, and I only add a travel fee for the longer distances well beyond greater Boston.
Do we get the high-resolution files and print rights?
Yes, you receive your high-resolution edited images in a private online gallery with a release for personal printing and sharing. That means you can order prints and post freely for your own use, while I retain the copyright, which is standard practice among wedding photographers.
What happens if it rains or snows on our wedding day?
I shoot straight through New England weather, and rain or snow often makes for some of the most striking images of the day. I scout covered and indoor backups ahead of time and keep the timeline flexible, so a forecast never forces you to choreograph your day around it.
