Cambridge City Hall is a beautiful place to elope. I have photographer a ton of elopements and Cambridge is by far only of the best cities to elope in.It is timeless and will lead to a memorable and beautiful elopement. From its “Richardsonian Romanesque” style to the location in the center of the surrounding historic district, you and your partner will be making your own history in a famous and simple location.
This Cambridge City Hall elopement planning guide will teach you everything you need to know to have an eye-catching elopement.
Here are 9 steps to plan an awesome elopement at City Hall.
SCHEDULING AN ELOPEMENT AT CAMBRIDGE CITY HALL
Step 1: Go with your partner to Cambridge City Hall for a marriage certificate application and pay $35. Your certificate will be available for pick-up after 3 days. The wedding certificate will be accepted for the next 60 days.
Step 2: You’ll want to call Cambridge City Hall to set up an appointment for your elopement. Make sure to call weeks ahead of your elopement date so you can pick the time that works best for your plans. Cambridge City Hall is available for an appointment from Monday to Friday. Because I want to make these the best photos for you, I suggest a time that is later in the day so we can still take advantage of the last hour of light.
Step 3. Send me an email and we can schedule a time to chat about your day. I’m happy to go over any questions you might have. To reserve me for the day it’s a 50% of your total elopement photography package.
PLANNING A CAMBRIDGE CITY HALL ELOPEMENT
Step 4: A few weeks before your Cambridge City Hall elopement I’ll send you an elopement day worksheet. This will help me get to know you and your partner, the time of event, and gives you options for what — if any — group photos you’d like. If you have any photo requests this would be where you can list them. I will then make sure we get everything done. If there are special locations you’d like to take any photos at, you’re welcome to list them and we can stop at them along the way.
Step 5:It’s time to start planning the rest of your day. A few things you’re going to want to start thinking about are what you and your partner are going to be wearing and who you will be inviting. After a Cambridge City Hall elopement, there is no better way to end the day than with your closest friends and family over an amazing dinner and drinks. Cambridge has dozens of delicious restaurants to choose from. If you are looking for vendor or restaurant recommendations who have experience with Cambridge City Hall Elopements, I have a few of my favorites on which can be found here.
THE WEEK of YOUR ELOPEMENT AT CAMBRIDGE CITY HALL
Step 6: I’ll send you an email the week of your Cambridge City Hall elopement to schedule a time to chat. We’ll go over the worksheet that I sent to you a few weeks before, which will include a timeline for you with every detail of your elopement.
That includes but is not limited to:
The starting address
Our schedule on that day
List of your family photos
Plans if there might be possible rain
At this time the final 50% of your elopement photography package is due.
DAY OF YOUR ELOPEMENT
Step 7: The time you are waiting for: your wedding day!
You have a lot of options to get to Cambridge City Hall. You can opt for a ride sharing app like Uber, take the red line to Central Square, or you can choose to park in public parking lots in Central Square.
It is best to be at the city hall at least 15 minutes before your appointment. When you arrive, check-in at the City Clerk’s office and pay $75 then wait to be requested upstairs. It’s important to remember that City Hall only takes cash.
Step 8: It’s time for your civil union ceremony. You can write your vows or just repeat the one provided by the City Hall. And just like that you are married! It’s time to celebrate, to take amazing pictures, and to wander around the city for some relaxed portraits.
Step 9: In a few weeks you can expect to receive 150-200, fully edited, amazing photos from your Cambridge City Hall elopement. All the photos are uploaded to a password protected gallery where you can view all your photos in one place. I’ll also include a download link with all of the high resolution photos for you to print anywhere you’d like. This includes the print rights to your photos.
There you have it! Getting married in general can be stressful, but with this easy guide hopefully it makes everything much more manageable, so you can fully enjoy your day.
