Most photographer pricing pages are vague on purpose. Couples find “investment starts at $X” and then a contact form. I’ve been on the inquiry-end of that game for 20 years and I think it’s dishonest. This page walks through exactly how my Sarasota wedding photography collections are built, what’s in each tier, where the math actually breaks for couples comparing six-hour to ten-hour coverage, which à la carte additions exist and why they matter, how hybrid photo+video works, and how the deposit and payment schedule works. How Mark Davidson Photography collections are structured
Three tiers, built around coverage hours. Every tier includes a contract, an online client gallery, full personal print rights, and the actual wedding-day work. The differences between tiers are coverage length, second-shooter inclusion, engagement session, prints, and album. My collections run $2,500–$6,000 depending on coverage hours and what your day needs. I will give you an exact number after one conversation, not a discovery-call funnel. The range goes on the page because making you book a call just to learn it is a sales tactic, and I respect your time.
6-hour collection. Solo photographer, 6 hours of coverage, online gallery with full personal print rights. Suited to ceremonies under 100 guests, simple timelines (ceremony + reception in one location, no separate getting-ready coverage), and couples who want the documentary work without the album-and-prints package built in.
8-hour collection, the most-booked tier. Solo or two-photographer, 8 hours of coverage, complimentary engagement session, online gallery, print credit. This is what 60% of my Sarasota couples book. Eight hours covers getting-ready through reception send-off for a typical 4:00pm-ceremony day.
10-hour premium collection. Two photographers (lead + second shooter), 10 hours of coverage, complimentary engagement session, online gallery, premium album, print credits, expedited delivery. For larger weddings (150+ guests), multi-location days, or couples who want the album included.
The pricing isn’t a flat menu. Saturday peak-season dates (October to April) sit at the higher end of the range; off-peak and weekday dates run lower. Travel beyond Sarasota County adds a flat per-county fee.

Everything else, the gear, the editing discipline, the documentary coverage approach, the 20 years of experience, is the same across all three tiers. The work is the work. Coverage hours, deliverables, and the second shooter are what scale.
Callout, the second shooter question. A second photographer is the single most impactful add to a wedding day with more than 120 guests. The lead can’t be at the bride’s getting-ready and the groom’s getting-ready simultaneously. The lead can’t be at the bayfront family formals and the cocktail-hour candids simultaneously. For larger weddings, a second shooter is included in the premium tier and available as an à la carte add to the 6 or 8-hour collections.
À la carte vs package math
Couples often ask whether they should book the lower tier and add what they want, or book the higher tier as-is. Here’s the math.
Engagement session add-on: 60 to 90 minutes at a Sarasota location, the rehearsal for how you photograph together. Included in 8-hour and premium collections.
Second shooter add-on: full-day double coverage, both getting-ready rooms, two angles on the ceremony, cocktail-hour candids while I shoot formals. Included in premium.
Album add-on (10×10, 30 spreads): fine-art pages, custom design, your choice of cover material and page count. Included in premium.
Extra coverage hour add-on: time beyond contracted coverage, decided on the wedding day.
Print credit add-on: purchased at face value, every dollar goes to prints.
The logic is simple even without a menu. The 10-hour premium bundles the second shooter, the album, AND the extra two hours of coverage at a better rate than adding all three to the 8-hour collection separately. For weddings where you want all three additions, the premium tier is the better math. For weddings where you only want one or two of those additions, à la carte on the 8-hour is more efficient. I will run the exact numbers for your day in the quote, one conversation, one number.
Video add-on, the hybrid math
Photo + video as a hybrid package is photo coverage plus video coverage plus a 4 to 6-minute highlight film, delivered as a finished cut within 10 to 12 weeks. A full-day footage option (a 60 to 90-minute documentary edit) is available. Hybrid is quoted as part of your collection, not bolted on.
Hybrid is more efficient than booking separate vendors. Two reasons: one, the photo and video teams plan together and don’t fight for the same angles. Two, the math is better, in the Sarasota market, separate vendors typically run $5,500 photo + $4,500 video, around $10,000 combined, for what one integrated team delivers inside a single collection. For couples who want both, hybrid is almost always the right call.
Video-only is not offered. The discipline difference between documentary photo and documentary video is real but they’re built around each other on my team and we don’t sell one without the other.
Album options
Albums are the deliverable couples regret not having more than any other. Print-on-demand from your phone is not the same artifact.
Standard album, 10×10, 20 spreads, fine-art matted pages, leather cover.
Premium album, 10×10, 30 spreads, museum-quality fine-art paper, custom leather or linen cover.
Heirloom album, 12×12, 40 spreads, archival paper, hand-bound cover.
Parent albums, duplicate matched sets at smaller size (8×8, same image selection).
Album design includes one round of revisions. Most couples take 4 to 6 weeks to finalize the spreads after gallery delivery, then 6 to 8 weeks for production. From wedding to album in hand is typically 4 to 5 months total.
Print credits
Print credits apply to the integrated print lab, fine-art prints, framed prints, canvas, metal, and acrylic. The lab is a professional-grade photographic printer, not a consumer service, and the difference shows in the paper and the color. Current print pricing lives in your delivery gallery’s print shop:
- Fine-art prints from 4×6 to 20×30
- Framed fine-art prints
- Canvas wraps up to 24×36
- Metal and acrylic mounts
Credits don’t expire. Couples typically use them in the first six months, engagement prints first, then wedding prints once the gallery is delivered.
The rights and license clarification
This trips up couples and I want to be explicit. Every collection includes full personal print rights. That means you can print anywhere, my lab, a consumer service, a frame shop, for any personal use without paying me again. You can share the images on social media, send them to family, hang them on your walls.
What you do not get is commercial license. That means the images can’t be sold, used in advertising, or licensed to third parties (magazines, blogs, vendors) without separate permission. In practice, this never comes up, couples don’t sell their wedding photos. But if a wedding vendor (florist, venue, planner) wants to use one of your images in their marketing, they need to license it through me, not just take it from your Instagram.
I retain the copyright on the images, which is industry standard for documentary photographers. That copyright lets me put a small number of frames in my portfolio and submit a small number to publications (with your permission for anything that names you).
Deposit and payment schedule
Booking retainer: 25% of the collection total, due at contract signing. Non-refundable. This holds your date, the date is yours and not available to any other inquiring couple from the moment the retainer clears.
Second payment: 25% of the total, due 90 days before the wedding.
Final payment: 50% of the total, due 30 days before the wedding.
For destination weddings outside Sarasota County, travel costs (flights, lodging, rental car) are billed separately at cost with a 60-day-out payment.
Payments accepted: ACH transfer (preferred, no fee), check, credit card (3% processing fee added). Wire transfer for destination weddings.
Cancellation: retainer is non-refundable. Cancellations more than 90 days out, no further payment due. Cancellations inside 90 days, second payment is due. Cancellations inside 30 days, full balance is due. Postponements are handled separately and rarely cost anything beyond the retainer if the new date is available.
How to choose a tier
The decision flowchart, simplified:
- Under 100 guests, simple timeline, no album wanted: 6-hour collection.
- 100 to 150 guests, standard 8-hour day, engagement session wanted, album decided later: 8-hour collection. This is the most common booking.
- 150+ guests, multi-location day, album wanted, second shooter desired: 10-hour premium.
- Want photo + video, any guest count: 8-hour hybrid collection.
- Elopement or micro-wedding under 20 guests: elopement coverage (3-hour, separate from the main collections, the lower end of the range).
The biggest mistake couples make: booking too few hours and adding on at the wedding day. An add-on hour booked on the day costs meaningfully more than the same hour built into the original collection (going from 6 to 8). Build the right hours in from the start.

What’s the lowest collection you offer?

Do you offer elopement coverage separately?
Yes, a 3-hour elopement covers a ceremony plus first-look/portraits plus a brief celebration. It sits at the lower end of the collection range and is different from a full wedding collection.
Is the engagement session required?
No. It’s included in the 8-hour and premium collections. You can skip it and the price stays the same, most couples want it but a few don’t.
What if it rains?
The contract covers rain. We work the rain plan with the venue and the day still happens. If the venue cancels because of a hurricane evacuation, the retainer rolls to a rescheduled date within 12 months.
Can we add second-shooter coverage just for getting-ready?
Yes, half-day second-shooter coverage is available as an add-on. Useful when you want both partners’ getting-ready covered but don’t need full-day double coverage.
How long until we see the photos?
Sneak peek within 48 to 72 hours. Full gallery within two weeks. Albums add another 4 to 6 weeks after gallery delivery.
Do you travel outside Sarasota?
Yes, Sarasota, Manatee, Pinellas, Lee, and Charlotte counties at no travel fee. Statewide and destination work available; travel billed at cost.
