It is an outdoor recreation area situated on Gunstock Mountain near Gilford, New Hampshire, originally known as the Belknap Mountain Recreation Area. It was constructed in 1937 and is operated by the Belknap County, established by the Works Progress Administration. Gunstock underwent a development campaign costing $4 million in the summer of 2009 to make the mountain more family-friendly and safer for students. The biggest project was the construction of a 1,207-foot-long (368 m) new fixed-grip quad chairlift near the Gunshy Double Chairlift.
Skiing and cross-country skiing, snow climbing, ski jumping, snowshoeing, biking and swimming are some of the activities available. In contrast to the traditional features, Gunstock Inn & Resort blends the rustic feel with state-of-the-art engineering to provide a pleasant and often calming stay.
