“If you are our Boston wedding photographer, do I get the print rights to the photos?”
This is the most frequently asked question during a meeting. The quick answer is “Yes.” After the wedding you’ll receive the high-res files edited photos with no watermarks.
During the wedding I’ll take over 4,000 photos. When I get home I’ll back everything up and start to pick the best photos to edit for you. I’ll spend the next few weeks color correcting and editing the photos. Once all of the post production is completed, I’ll give you the high resolution photos so you can print them on your own time.
The way I deliver them is with a simple download link. The service that I use to send them is a photo storage company called Pic-Time. You can download all of your photos with just a few clicks. Once they are downloaded, you can print them, share them on social media, and share them with your friends and family.
In addition to the download links, I will send you an official document stating that you have the print rights to the photos. This is helpful for when you go to print your wedding photos. Many labs won’t allow you to print your photos without this. The reason being is there are copyright laws in place to protect people from stealing photos and printing them.
The labs know that you need permission from your wedding photographer, so I make it easy for you to print out a document which I’ve signed stating that you have the right to print your photos.

Yes. After your wedding I deliver your full set of high-resolution, edited photos with no watermarks, and you get the print rights to all of them. You can print them, post them on social media, and share them with family and friends on your own time.
Do my wedding photos come with watermarks?
No. The images I hand over are fully edited, high-resolution files with no watermarks on them. They are clean and print-ready, so you can do whatever you like with them once they are yours.
How do I actually receive and download my photos?
I deliver everything through an online gallery from a photo storage company called Pic-Time, and you get a simple download link. You can download all of your photos with just a few clicks, then print, share, and post them however you want.
Will the print lab let me print my own wedding photos?
Many labs will not print wedding photos without written permission from the photographer, because copyright laws are in place to stop people from printing stolen images. That is why I send you an official document I have signed stating that you have the print rights, which makes it easy to walk into any lab and print your photos.
How many photos will I get and how long does editing take?
During the wedding I shoot over 4,000 photos, then I back everything up at home and start choosing the best images to edit for you. I spend the next few weeks color correcting and editing, and once all of the post production is finished I deliver your high-resolution gallery.
What is the difference between print rights and owning the copyright?
Print rights mean you can print, share, and post your photos freely for personal use, which is what almost every couple actually wants. The photographer typically keeps the copyright, but with the signed print release I give you, you are free to print your wedding photos anywhere and enjoy them however you like.
Do we get the full high-resolution files or just small web versions?
You get the high-resolution edited files. Those are the same files I finish in post production, so they hold up whether you are printing something large for a wall or posting a small version online. There is no separate upgrade to buy and no low-resolution preview version. What I finish is what you get.
Can we post our wedding photos on social media?
Yes. Once you download the photos, they are yours to share. Post them, text them, put them wherever you want. They come to you without watermarks, so nothing gets in the way of the picture. Share them with friends and family too, I would rather your people see the day than have the files sit in a folder.
How does Pic-Time work for getting our photos?
Pic-Time is the photo storage service I use to send your gallery. You get a simple download link. A few clicks and the whole set of high-resolution photos comes down to your computer. From there you can print them, share them, and back them up on your own time. No complicated software to learn.
Can we share the gallery with our friends and family?
Yes. Once the photos are downloaded, you can share them with anyone, parents, wedding party, friends who were there and friends who missed it. There is nothing locking the files down. They are yours to hand out however you like.
What happens to our photos right after the wedding?
When I get home that night, the first thing I do is back everything up. Then I start going through the day and picking the photos I want to edit for you. Backing up comes before anything else, because the day only happens once and the files need to be safe before any of the fun work starts.
