Aldrich Mansion Wedding
Aldrich Mansion Wedding
Introduction
The wedding that took place at the Aldrich Mansion was unforgettable for many reasons, not the least of which were its elegance, romance, and passion. Without a premier wedding location that exudes elegance and sophistication, all of these will, without a shadow of a doubt, be rendered meaningless. The Aldrich Mansion serves as a wedding site that both defines and emphasizes the beauty, elegance, and romantic atmosphere of the bride and groom.
A magnificent mansion that is situated on an enormous land area of seventy acres incorporates the distinctive architecture of a bygone age with the most contemporary European creativity and conveniences. Its exceptional location on a hilltop with distinctively maintained lawns and the always magnificent Narragansett Bay as its backdrop contributes to the overall appeal of the property. When you factor in the tranquil atmosphere and natural vibe that the estate exudes, you have the makings of the ideal background and setting for your upcoming wedding.
History of the Aldrich Mansion Weddings
The Aldrich Mansion is steeped in history and dates all the way back to the 1890s. It was constructed during the one-of-a-kind eras of prominent Rhode Island senator Nelson W. Aldrich, who was born and raised in the state. The construction of the Chateau began in the year 1896, and it involved around two hundred artisans from across Europe working together to create a dynamic edifice.
A little more than sixteen years later, the now-famous Aldrich Mansion (which had previously been known as Indian Oaks) with its 70 ornate rooms was finally finished. It was renowned for its unparalleled beauty, which was achieved by the use of beautiful paintings, exquisite wood carvings, Italian marbles, and other great designs complemented by the diversity of its creators. In later years, Senator Aldrich and his wife, Mrs. Aldrich, each occupied one of the three expansive suites that were available in the Mansion and made it their home.
The major makeover of the Aldrich Mansion into an event center began in 1939 when the heir of the Senator gave 85 acres of the Aldrich Mansion to Providence Diocese for a minimal fee. This marked the beginning of the change. On the other hand, in 1946 the Lady of Providence Seminary decided to make the Mansion into their new home. The once quaint mansion, which boasted some of the greatest architecture of yesteryear, has been transformed into a contemporary event center that is both eye-catching and sumptuous as a result of extensive renovations and developments.
This property had been the scene of a number of important gatherings in the past, including the wedding of Abby Aldrich and John D. Rockefeller, the hosting of a Teahouse that was later destroyed by fire, and the ownership of a Carriage House, a Caretaker's Cottage, and a Boathouse. All of these buildings have since been demolished.
